Today I'll be going over some of the best rechargeable flashlights on the market, the Fenix Flashlights UC series and some of the E series LED flashlights. This series kind of really set the bar as far as the charging micro USB cord. Very similar to the RC series that Fenix came out with before, but the UC series lights does not use a cradle, like the RC would. There are many different lights in the UC series and we will be going over some of them today along with a few others: the E03R, E02R, E30R and UC35 V2.0. I'll go over each one, individually with you. Give you a little bit information about each one.
Fenix E03R Mini Rechargeable Flashlight
First off, the E03R is going to be a smaller key chain light. It has got five different brightness settings including a red light. First setting on the white LED would be 5 lumens which will last about 18 hours and has a distance of 7 meters.
Next setting would be 30 lumens, which has a runtime of 3 hours and has a beam distance of 16 meters. Next up is the medium setting of 80 lumens and that has a runtime of 1 hour and 15 minutes with a beam distance of 25 meters. And the last setting on the Fenix E03R would be high which is 260 lumens and has a runtime of 45 minutes with a distance of 42 meters. You also have the red mode which is 4 lumens and that runs for 5 hours and 30 minutes. This rechargeable flashlight does have a built in lithium polymer battery, that you are able to recharge using a USB Type-C charging cable which is included. So the E03R is a really good choice as far as everyday carry keychain light.
The E03R has a stainless steel side switch for easy and convenient brightness. This one does have a battery level indicator, it keeps you on top of your battery charge, that is so you always know when it's going to drain or die on you. Really good choice of light. Overall length on this one is about 1.8 inches, and it's going to come with that battery. Really good choice there.
Fenix E02R Keychain Rechargeable Flashlight
Next one would be the Fenix E02R. This one is going to be another small keychain light and, in our opinion, one of the best rechargeable flashlights you can EDC. This one is only about 1.89 inches and has a twist head operated function to turn it on and off. This one has two different brightness modes. The first one is 15 lumens which has a run time of 6 hours and 30 minutes and has a distance of about 42 feet.
Next and last setting would be the high setting which is 200 lumens that would last about 25 minutes and has a distance of 160 feet. These are all going to be made of the same aircraft grade aluminum, as what you're used to with any other Fenix flashlight. It has a high efficiency lens with total reflective coating that gives you that crisp clear beam.
The E02R has a built-in li-polymer battery making it a rechargeable flashlight. You can charge it using the USB Type-C cable that's included. This light is also IPX8 water proof so that would be about six and a half feet for two meters submersible. It's impact resistant and comes in three different colors to choose from making it a great choice for an EDC light, especially if it's a gift.
Fenix E30R EDC Rechargeable Flashlight
Next one we're going to be going into is the Fenix E30R. This one is a little bit bigger. It's 3.9 inches in length and it's more of a compact design. Slim lined body of 1 inch in diameter. However this one does not have a tail switch, so it's not really like a tactical style as what you're used to. The Fenix E30R only has one switch on the side, it's the way you turn it on and off as well as change your brightness intensities. This one has 5 different brightness settings, as well as a strobe. If you count the strobe it would be 6 total. First setting, eco, would be 30 lumens and has a 70 hour and 30 minute runtime.
Next setting up from that would be the low setting at 150 lumens for 17 hours and 32 minutes. The next setting up from that would be mid at 350 lumens and that runs up to 5 hours and 28 minutes, so it really jumps up there as far as your run time with the output. Next setting up from that would be high at 800 lumens for 1 hours and 55 minutes. Finally the turbo setting which has the brightest at 1600 lumens for an hour and 27 minutes.
This E30R is going to come with a battery just like all the other rechargeable flashlights but it's going to be a rechargeable 18650, so it's a little bit bigger battery. It's going to include a 3500 milliamp 18650. The 3500mAh battery will increase your run time compared to the 2600mAh Fenix battery, however the lumen output will remain the same at 1600 as your max. The 3500mAh 18650 battery is going to give about a 25-30% increase in run time. Really good choice there. Again, does not have a tail switch, more of a compact design, 1 inch diameter, and almost 4 inches long.
Fenix UC35 V2.0 Best Rechargeable Flashlight
Next is the Fenix UC35 V2.0 rechargeable flashlight. This is probably the most popular of the UC series, because it does have a more of a tactical design body. It’s been a best seller since it’s release, making it one of the best rechargeable flashlights we offer. It does have a tail switch turn it on and off as well as a side body switch to change your brightness settings, does have intelligent memory, so again whatever you turn it off on, it will turn back on in that same brightness setting. It has a maximum beam distance of 266 meters and the strobe that it has as well is 1000 lumens. Really good choice there.
The UC35 V2 is going to come with a little bit better battery. It does include a 3500 milliamp rechargeable 18650, so right out of the gate it gives you a longer run time with those settings, being 2 hours and 15 minutes at 1000 lumens. As long as being rechargeable inside the light itself, you could use non rechargeable CR123's as well, but you know with those being non rechargeable you wouldn't be able to recharge those of course.
But those are good to use as a spare or back up in case your batteries do die on you if you don't have any out in the field. Good choice of battery there, so universal, you could use any battery basically of those two varieties. Rechargeable 18650 or the non rechargeable CR123. The UC35 V2 rechargeable flashlight does have waterproof protection, waterproof rating of IPX8, so it is submersible for about half an hour for two meters. On that waterproof rating again it does have a USB port, so it's got a rubber cover that will need to be intact to maintain the waterproof rating.
Another cool feature about the UC35 V2 is that it does have an indicator. That lets you know about your battery status. When your battery is fully charged, once you're charging it, it will turn the constant green light on the side body switch. When it's charging, it's going to be a red light, to let you know that a charging is in process and this is all via the micro USB cord that comes with it. It does have the circuit protection, so it's really protecting you against improper battery installation, as well as over charge and discharge as well.
And the LED that is in it would be Cree XP-L HI V3 LED, which is one of the newer LED's that came out at the time the UC35 V2 was released. As far as the strobe function goes to activate that, once the light is on, you would just press the side body switch over a second to activate the strobe and just tap it again to deactivate it and it would just go back to the previously setting.
Overall the UC35 V2 is the most popular, it's one of my favorites in that particular series, being a tactical style tail switch for momentary on and constant on. This is a really great light here as far as every day carry. Law Enforcement, Military use, or even general use around your house. Walking the dog or what not at night. Really great light there.
Any 18650 battery that you choose to use in this light will be able to recharge inside the unit itself, but if you also had spares you can charge those inside of a external charger of course and then just throw them in the UC35 V2 it will work just fine as well. Any of these would be a great addition to your repertoire. This Fenix light is a great light, so if you haven't got any the aforementioned best rechargeable flashlights, I would definitely recommend a UC35 or even an E30R, if you're looking for something a little smaller.
