Q: What kind of LED is used in GL23R?

A: Luminus SFT40 LED with a lifespan of 50,000 hours.

Q: What is the color temperature of GL23R?

A: Around 6500K.

Q: What is the working voltage of GL23R?

A: 3.0V - 4.2V.

Q: Is GL23R rechargeable?

A: The included Fenix ARB-L18-1100 rechargeable battery can be directly charged via the USB Type-C port on the tactical light. The indicator will display red while charging and will turn green when fully charged.

Q: How to mount the GL23R?

Please make sure your firearm rail is Picatinny rail or Glock rail and choose the appropriate rail plate (Glock rail plate is installed by default), you can change the rail plate to make the tactical light more suitable for your firearm.

1. The GL23R is designed for precise aiming, it required a basic tool or simply a coin to be attached or detached from the side of the weapon or accessory rail.

2. Loosen the rail clamp bolt.

3. Placing the fixed portion of the rail clamp against the accessory rail and align the rail key with the appropriate cross groove in the accessory rail.

4. Tighten the rail clamp bolt and make sure it is securely attached to the firearm. Again a coin should be helpful to obtain sufficient tightness.

Q: Why does the GL23R downshift to a lower mode after being used for a while and the higher mode cannot be selected?

The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on higher output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 55°C/131°F or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature.

Q: Why does the GL23R flicker?

A: The reasons that may cause the light to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate:

1. Poor battery level.

Solution: Recharge or replace the battery.

2. The contact or contact point of the battery or light is dirty.

Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Q: What kind of battery can be used in GL23R?

A: It is recommended to use a Fenix ARB-L18-1100 rechargeable battery. It is compatible with a 18350 battery.

Other Li-ion batteries are not recommended. As Higher modes fail to light up due to current and voltage limitation, an unmatched battery may cause the light to fail to work normally.

Q: What type of pistols does GL23R fit?

  1. Fits most full-size and compact pistols with a Glock universal rail or MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rail, including the Glock 17, 19, 22, 23, 34, and 45.
  2. Fits a few other compact pistols with a standard accessory rail.
  3. Does not fit compact models from Sig Sauer, Taurus, FN, CZ, or Smith & Wesson with short or non-standard rails.
  4. Does not fit sub-compact or micro-compact pistols without an accessory rail, including the Glock 43X, Glock 26, and Glock 27 — these frames have no rail to mount any weapon light.

Q: How to zero the laser light?

  1. The windage adjustment is at the left sign of the light. Use the included Allen wrench clockwise or counter-clockwise to move the laser point.
  2. The elevation adjustment is located at the bottom of the light, use the included Allen wrench clockwise or counter-clockwise to move the laser point.
  3. When making large adjustments they may be an interaction that causes the laser to move diagonally or bind. It may become necessary to rotate the opposing adjustment screw counterclockwise to allow the laser cartridge to move to the desired position.

Condensed from the manufacturer's official manual for the Fenix GL23R green laser tactical light. See the downloadable PDF reference manual on this page for complete details.

Warning

  • The LED light with green laser is a high-intensity lighting device capable of causing eye damage to the user or others. Avoid shining the light directly into anyone's eyes.

Important Warnings

FAILURE TO READ AND FOLLOW THESE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS WHEN HANDLING A FIREARM OR THE GL23R CAN BE DANGEROUS AND CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY, DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, OR DEATH.

Before attaching, inspecting, or servicing a firearm-mounted GL23R:

  1. Engage the safety of the firearm if applicable.
  2. Remove the magazine from the firearm if applicable.
  3. Open the action and inspect the chamber to be sure it is empty.

Mounting

Make sure your firearm rail is a Picatinny rail or Glock rail and choose the appropriate rail plate (the Glock rail plate is installed by default); you can change the rail plate to make the tactical light more suitable for your firearm.

  1. The GL23R is designed for precise aiming; it requires a basic tool or simply a coin to be attached to or detached from the side of the weapon or accessory rail.
  2. Loosen the rail clamp bolt.
  3. Place the fixed portion of the rail clamp against the accessory rail and align the rail key with the appropriate cross groove in the accessory rail.
  4. Tighten the rail clamp bolt and make sure it is securely attached to the firearm. Again, a coin should be helpful to obtain sufficient tightness.

Operating Instructions

The tail switches can be operated with both hands. Rotate the toggle switch at the bottom to select the designated mode.

On/Off: rotate the bottom toggle switch from OFF to any mode and push the tail switches up or down to turn on the tactical light. Reset the tail switches to turn off the tactical light.

Output Selection: with the tail switches pressed down, rotate the bottom toggle switch to cycle through OFF ↔ White Light ↔ White Light + Green Laser ↔ Green Laser.

Laser Sight Zeroing: the windage adjustment is at the left side of the light and the elevation adjustment is at the bottom; use the included Allen wrench clockwise or counter-clockwise to move the laser point. When making large adjustments there may be an interaction that causes the laser to move diagonally or bind — rotate the opposing adjustment screw counterclockwise if needed. Laser parameters: CLASS 3R laser product, wavelength 510–530nm, optical power output ≤5mW.

Tail Switches Replacement: three groups of spare switches are included. Use the included Allen wrench to remove the T4 screw on the tail switch, then replace the tail switch and screw the T4 screw back on. Users can install two switches of different lengths based on their usage habits.

Battery Specifications & Replacement

  • Fenix ARB-L18-1100 (18350, 3.6V): Recommended
  • Other types of 18350 (3.6V): Usable

18350 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care. Only using quality batteries with circuit protection will reduce the potential for combustion or explosion. Cell damage or short-circuiting caused by using this type of battery is considered user-induced damage and is not covered by any Fenix warranty or liability.

To replace: unscrew the light head and insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the light head back on.

Charging

  1. With the light switched off, open the anti-dust cover to reveal the charging port, then connect the USB Type-C end of the charging cable to the tactical light.
  2. The indicator will display red while charging, and will turn to green when fully charged.
  3. Once charging is completed, be sure to unplug the charging cable and close the anti-dust cover.

Note: The light cannot be operated while charging. Recharge the battery promptly to ensure its normal life. The normal charging time is approximately 2 hours from depleted to fully charged. Recharge a stored light every four months to maintain optimum performance of the battery.

Battery Level Indication

Turn the toggle switch to the OFF state, then push the tail switches up or down. The indicator will display the current battery level for 3 seconds.

  • Green light on: 100%–85%
  • Green light flashes: 85%–50%
  • Red light on: 50%–25%
  • Red light flashes: 25%–1%

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used at high output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C/140°F or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 55°C/131°F, the light automatically recalls the previously used output level.

Low-Voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the light is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until 50 lumens is reached. When this happens at 50 lumens, the battery level indicator blinks to remind you to recharge or replace the battery.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed parts can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • If you shoot ammunition and get the lens coated, try rubbing the lens with fine steel wool or Froglube CLP.
  • Since gun maintenance requires the use of organic solvents, organic solvents contaminating key components of the light or laser module may cause malfunctions, and the light will not receive normal warranty service.
  • Remove the battery to prevent accidental activation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the light's performance, as dirty contacts may cause the light to flicker, shine intermittently, or fail to illuminate. If the battery level is poor, replace or recharge it (ensure it's inserted per the manufacturer's specifications); if contacts are dirty, clean them with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol. If the above methods don't work, contact your authorized distributor.

Light broke within one month of ownership

"Light and laser were awesome and worth the purchase initially, but after it sat in my nightstand for not even a month it is completely defective and cannot hold a charge. Please replace defective unit."

Shane P. (5/5)

I don't think the other guy is going to like this unit. . .

"I put it on an older Sig Sauer P226. The gun has a rail on the bottom of the barrel and the GL23R fit right up. The quality and functionality are good. I'm an old SEAL Team guy, not a gun smith or gun enthusiast. I can't see so super good and I'm pretty slow, so when Joe Shit The Jackass shows up on my doorstep with other than honorable intentions, I just needed something to help me get him back to where he came from. This laser/light combo will be a nice start to the conversation."

Incredibly hybrid light, especially for the price

"Bright & wide enough to flood an entire, large and pitch black yard with light and powerful enough to cast said light over 200 feet - when including the height difference - well enough to illuminate a tree top canopy so that every single branch is visible, while still flooding the entire ground area to my front with light. To be fair, it can actually do this out to around at least 400-500 feet, but getting a picture of that would've required me pointing my weapon into my neighbor's yard. I originally tested it out that far before mounting. So, if they're in handgun range, this beam will find them. Not only is the laser more than bright enough to be easily visible in broad daylight, but it's also bright enough to be seen crystal clear over the powerful light, at both close range and long distance. The build quality is highly impressive, especially for the price. It easily reminds me of those other brands that cost 3-8X as much. The ergonomics are perfectly designed: if you actually practice trigger discipline like you're supposed to, then the activator will easily be in reach of your trigger finger at all times without even adjusting your grip, especially between one of the replacements, and the toggle will easily be accessible by your supporting hand, though flipping it with one finger can be tricky: which I suspect it just needs to be broken in. If you're worried about finding a Kydex/retention holster for this light, fear not. Falco Holsters has this light as an option, plus just about any handgun model you can think of. Including my Px4 full size, and that's hard to find. It also fits easily with universal tactical holsters. If I had one single complaint about this system, it's that there's only one brightness setting: ultra bright. Which, from a tactical perspective, is an issue. But then again, nether do those other brands that cost 3-8X as much. So it still gets a five-star rating from me. Sorry for the photo quality: had to take it with my off hand. In the second photo, I held the muzzle at a weird angle so the lit up area would be more visible to the camera."

Steven F. (5/5)

Battery only charged one time.

"I charge the battery after opening the product and installing it on my pistol. Now it doesn’t charge it all. Hopefully fenix will fix this issue. I just emailed the warranty department."

Dylan H. (2/5)

"Have had plenty of flashlights from this company and absolutely love them, wasnt sure what to expect on the weapon light, not sure why , this thing is badass!!!! Should of bought it sooner"

Benjamin (5/5)

Fenix GL23R Green Laser Tactical Light

"This is a excellent laser-light combination. Brite flood light and crisp laser with long reaching pin point accuracy. Light weight and small foot print. The light activation switch and lever choices are excellent and work perfectly smooth. The light selection switch is not as smooth in it's movement,it feels stiff moving to the positions. It has a screw type clamp for the picatinny mount, that's okay. I prefer the Fenix quik detach clamp they have on other models. I can't review durability or battery life yet. I like this unit very much and would recommend it on build quality alone."

OUT-Fing-STANDING

"I ordered another gun light from different flashlight company and I ordered 1 from Fenix just to compare head to head. In typical FENIX fashion, the GL23R outshined the other light. Not only was Felix's 1200 lumens brighter than the others "claimed" 1500 it was a purer white. Fenix. . . . . you have a customer for life in me"
