Q1. What kind of LED is used in PD35R? Does Fenix offer to replace LED?

A: Three Luminus SFT40 LED with a lifespan of 50,000 hours.

Fenix does not provide LED replacement services for the time being, and users are not recommended to replace the LEDs independently, which may affect product performance and cause product damage.

Q2. What is the color temperature of PD35R?

A: Around 6500K.

Q3. What is the working voltage of PD35R?

A: Voltage: 2.85 - 6V.

Q4. What is the runtime of the Turbo mode of PD35R?

A: The runtime of the Turbo mode is 2 hours and 15 minutes. The light will rapidly accumulate a lot of heat when used on 1700 lumens / Turbo mode. When the light reaches a temperature of a certain level, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. So the runtime of Turbo mode is measured in a total of runtime including output at reduced levels due to temperature or protection mechanism in the design. The stated data are from the results produced by Fenix through its laboratory testing under the temperature of 21±3°C according to the ANSI/PLATO FL1 standard. (For specific runtime performance, refer to the runtime graph in the manual)

*According to the ANSI / PLATO FL1 standard, the battery life refers to the time from 30 seconds after the flashlight switch is turned on until the light output reaches 10% of the initial value.

Q5. Is PD35R rechargeable?

A: Yes, PD35R is rechargeable with a USB Type-C. The charging time is about 3 hours. (The indicator will display red while charging and will turn green when fully charged.)

Q6. How to prevent accidentally activate the PD35R?

A: Unscrew the light tail, or remove the battery to prevent accidental activation.

Q7. Why does the PD35R downshift to a lower mode after being used for a while and the higher mode cannot be selected?

A: There are two reasons:

1. Intelligent Overheat Protection

The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used on Turbo output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 60°C, it will then allow the user for the reselection of Turbo mode.

2. Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Eco output is reached. When this happens in Eco output mode, the light blinks 3 times every 5 minutes to remind you to timely recharge or replace the battery.

Q8. Why does the PD35R happen to flicker?

A: The reasons that may cause the light to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate:

1. Poor battery level.

Solution: Recharge or replace the battery.

2. The contact or contact point of the battery or flashlight is dirty.

Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Q9. What kind of battery can be used in PD35R?

A: It is recommended to use 1 x Fenix ARB-L18-3400 Li-ion battery. And compatible with two CR123A batteries. The Turbo mode can not be selected and the brightness of the Strobe mode only reaches 1000 lumens when CR123A batteries are used.

Battery Specifications & Replacement

  • Fenix ARB-L18 Series (18650, 3.6V): Recommended
  • Non-rechargeable Lithium (CR123A, 3V): Usable (no charging)
  • Rechargeable Li-ion (18650, 3.6V, non-Fenix): Caution
  • Rechargeable Li-ion (16340, 3.6V): Banned
  • Rechargeable LiFePO4 (18650, 3.2V): Banned

16340/18650 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care. Only quality batteries with circuit protection will reduce the potential for combustion or explosion; cell damage or short-circuiting are potential risks the user assumes.

To replace: unscrew the light tail, insert the battery anode side (+) toward the light head, and screw the tail back on.

Charging

  • First switch off the light and plug the USB A socket of the charging cable into an electrical outlet, then connect the USB Type-C socket of the charging cable to the light.
  • The indicator will display red while charging and will turn green when fully charged.
  • Once charging is completed, be sure to close the anti-dust cover to maintain the dustproof and waterproof ability.

The normal charging time of the included ARB-L18-3400 rechargeable battery is approximately 3 hours from depletion to full charge. Recharge a stored light every four months to maintain optimum battery performance. The light is unavailable while charging — if turned on when the charging cable is connected, it will turn off immediately, and will automatically recall the memorized lighting mode once the cable is removed. To avoid this, turn the light off before charging.

Battery Level Indication

Each time the light is turned on, the indicator in the auxiliary switch shows battery level for 3 seconds.

  • Green, on: saturated, 100–85%
  • Green, flashing: sufficient, 85–50%
  • Red, on: poor, 50–25%
  • Red, flashing: critical, 25–1%

Note: This only works with a Fenix ARB-L18 series rechargeable battery.

Protection Features

Intelligent Overheat Protection: at 60°C or above, the light automatically steps down a few lumens to cool down, and allows reselecting High/Turbo modes once temperature drops below 60°C.

Low-Voltage Warning: as the battery depletes, the light automatically downshifts toward Eco; in Eco, the light blinks 3 times every 5 minutes as a reminder to recharge or replace the battery. Works only with a Fenix ARB-L18 series rechargeable battery.

Care & Maintenance

  • Do not disassemble the sealed head — this voids the warranty.
  • Use only a high-quality protected battery.
  • Remove the battery for proper storage if the light won't be used for an extended period.
  • Unscrew the tail cap or remove the battery during storage/transport to prevent accidental activation.
  • Replace the O-ring with an approved spare if it shows wear, to maintain the waterproof seal.
  • Clean battery contacts periodically with a rubbing-alcohol-soaked cotton swab if the light flickers or won't turn on.

Reviews

Perfect Flashlight for Airline Pilots

"As an airline pilot, I use this flashlight regularly during preflight inspections, and it has been excellent. It’s compact enough to fit easily in my flight bag, but it puts out an impressive amount of light when checking the aircraft at night or in low-light conditions. The rechargeable battery lasts a long time, the build quality feels extremely durable, and the different brightness settings are very useful. Overall, it’s a great flashlight that does exactly what I need it to do on the job."

My inspections.

"I own 2 flashlighs. I use one as a back-up for my home imspection business. My inspections range between 4 to 6 hours depending on how large the house is and i get through them on 1 flashlight. I also own a fenix headlamp which is womderful. I usually is it when inspecting attics and crawlspaces when electric lights are not available. I first saw a policeman with a fenix flashlight. I thought at the time that it was a unique professional tool, and I was very impressed that I had to have one."

Patrick W. (5/5)

Awesome Light!

"Very usable for EDC and general outdoors use. Awesome throw at anything medium and above, with eco/low available for up close use. Somewhat tight Hotspot with a decent spill. Sits a little high in the pocket. Only complaints are instant strobe in lieu of instant turbo, no readily available deep carry clip. Minor gripes on an otherwise awesome light!"

Lucas D. (4/5)
