Fenix E15 Flashlight - The Perfect EDC Flashlight (discontinued)
*Read our updated article about the Best EDC Fenix Light.
Hello, this is Brad from the Fenix-Store.com and I’ll be going over the Fenix E15 2016 edition flashlight today (discontinued. Check out the Fenix E18R Rechargeable Everyday Carry Flashlight). The E15 2016 version was released late 2015 and was an upgraded model from the previous edition that was only 120 Lumens! Now it will reach an output of 450 Lumens on one single Rechargeable CR123 and is under 3 inches long! That is some serious illuminating power!
This Fenix flashlight is an ultra-bright sub-compact LED light that has an incredibly easy-to-use twist operated head to change between the four brightness modes rather than the typical push button tail cap like many other Fenix flashlights and can use either a Non-Rechargeable CR123 or a 16340 battery. However, with this Fenix E15 Flashlight it will automatically recognize which battery is being used since it accepts either one of these two batteries. The flashlight is made from the same aircraft grade aluminum and uses a Cree XP-G2 R5 White LED with a lifespan of 50,000 hours with a premium type III hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish and uses a high efficient lens with total reflective coating.
This light is a very popular choice for bug-out bags, emergency kits and keychains because of its supreme portability and high outputs. Lithium battery-powered flashlights are also ideal for emergency kits because of their long shelf-lives they possess. Next, I will go more into the different brightness modes.
This Fenix E15 does not have intelligent memory circuitry so it will always come on in Low Mode. To turn it on/off all you do is twist the head and if twisted back and forth in succession you will achieve the different brightness modes. Since this light can use two different battery types, I will include each battery's own runtime.
-
Turbo
-
High
-
Mid
-
Low
As you can see the difference is pretty significant on the Turbo setting giving you almost 200 extra lumens but you do sacrifice runtime. I would recommend carrying or using both kinds that way you can get the best of both worlds. While on Turbo the light does have a maximum beam distance of 433 feet, that’s not bad at all for a light under 3 inches long and also features an Intelligent drive circuit for better battery performance as well as a low voltage reminder to let you know when your battery needs replacing. Once your battery is getting drained you will notice you will no longer be able to access the Turbo mode since the battery can no longer support it, then the same thing would happen to the High mode and so on and so forth so it’s very easy to tell when you need to swap out batteries. It also has over-heat protection to avoid high temperatures on the surface and will drop down to the next brightest mode until it cools down then will be able to increase lumens after it cools down.
I mentioned earlier it has a twist head to turn ON/OFF the light as well as select your desired output mode which really makes for a better one handed experience. One great key safety feature is the built in reverse polarity protection to protect against installing the battery incorrectly. The bottom of the light has a flat surface so it is able to stand upright and provide more of a lamp style light which my family and I like to use in a tent while camping. It has a standard IPX-8 waterproof rating to 6.5 feet or 2 meters for 30 minutes.
The Fenix E15 Flashlight is so compact you may even forget you’re carrying it. The light is only 2.6 inches long and 0.7 inches wide and weighs only 2 ounces with the battery in it. We have this light available at www.fenix-store.com for only $29.95 and will come with E15 2016 Flashlight, 1 Spare O-Ring, 1 Instructions Sheet and 1 Warranty Card. With the holiday season right around the corner this flashlight would make an excellent Christmas gift or stocking stuffer.
Well that pretty much sums up the Fenix E15 2016 edition. I hope I have provided some great information that you might not have known otherwise. Thank you so much for reading!
