"So far I can say it has plenty of useable light . It sure can light things up at a great distance in turbo mode. I sure like that you can pick a light mode with front switch and the turn on and off from the back switch. No cycling through modes to get to desired light output. Yeah!! Have run it long enough yet to see how long it will last .....time will tell. Maybe another review later ."

"PD36R is an excellent flashlight with one caveat. Having to use one button to turn it on and having to try and find the other button would make this flashlight very difficult to use in an emergency situation. For example, an intruder. Flashlight in one hand and your gun in the other and try to find the button to put it in strobe mode using one hand. Great flashlight but I will find something else for quick one handed operation."

Typical Fenix quality but ? charging cord?

"I own numerous different Fenix lights, some/most might say I have a problem. Anyway this PD36R is typical Fenix quality, which is great. Battery last really really long time. Super bright when needed but most of the time the lower levels of brightness are sufficient for the task at hand. I like the new style clip. Love the battery level indication...My one gripe with this model is the “new” style charging cable. I have the old style charging cables in all rooms of the house, in the car and laying around all over work, never have to look far for one. Now with this light I have 1 dedicated cord that just works with this one light. Good thing I have extra battery cause if it dies away from home I’m out of luck recharging it as I don’t want to carry the cord with me cause it will get lost.."

Love my PD36R!

"I'm a flashlight lover and this is my favorite of them all. It is EDC for me, I work as a property manager. I love playing tricks on sub-contractors, the last guy was a HVAC tech. He got his flashlight out to look in a furnace and then I got out my PD36R. The reaction to the PD36R is always the same - they say "wow, I guess I need to put new batteries in my flashlight." . I don't have the heart to tell them that they could connect their flashlight to a Briggs & Stratton and it still wouldn't be as bright as my PD36R. I enjoy this little game immensely. Nobody out flashlights me and my PD36R. Unless you have my next flashlight - the PD40R V. 2.0"

It may be hard to believe that a flashlight so compact can have such good runtimes. The 30 lumens of the ECO mode will last for a total of 115 hours! What is even more exciting is the 2.9 hours you get with a mind-blowing 1600 lumens. These extended runtimes are perfect for anyone that uses their flashlight for work, such as home inspectors or police officers.

21700 Battery

Why does the Fenix PD36R stand out from the rest of the competition? The most obvious answer is the use of the 21700 battery in this fantastic Tactical flashlight. For many years the standard for flashlights was always 18650 rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. However, there was room for improvement, and Fenix delivered with the release of the 21700 rechargeable battery. This Lithium-ion battery allows flashlights like the PD36R to have longer runtimes and reach higher lumen capacities that were not achievable with the 18650 battery. What makes this battery even better is the fact that it is only a few millimeters bigger than its predecessors the 18650. Most 21700 flashlights stay within the same size range of 18650 torches, of course, with the added lumens and longer runtimes. Please read the included user manual for safe charging practices. Only use the included cable and a non-variable AC adapter no higher than 3 amps/15 watts. Do not attempt to charge 18650 batteries in the PD36R.

One of the best features of the new PD36R is the 1600-lumen capacity. Most flashlights that are of comparable size will max out at 1000 lumens like the PD35 or PD35 TAC. However, the combination of a larger battery with an upgraded LED has allowed the Fenix PD36R to surpass the market standard. The added lumens also allow for far-reaching visibility.
