Q: What kind of LED is used in PD45R ACE?

A: A Luminus SFT-70X-WS65-H2-H1652 LED with a lifespan of 50,000 hours.

Q: What is the color temperature of PD45R ACE?

A: Around 6500K.

Q: What is the working voltage of PD45R ACE?

A: The working voltage is 3.0 V - 4.2 V.

Q: Is PD45R ACE rechargeable? How long is the charging time?

A: Yes, PD45R ACE is rechargeable with a hidden USB Type-C port. The indicator will display red while charging and will turn green when fully charged. The normal charging time of the included battery is about 3 hours from depleted to fully charged.

Additional question: Does the charging port remain waterproof after any water ingress?

A: The USB Type-C charging port features an inner waterproof design, enabling normal charging operations following any water ingress. After ensuring the port is thoroughly dried, users can start the charging process.

Q: How to prevent accidentally activating the PD45R ACE?

A: The PD45R ACE features the Lock mode for locking and unlocking the flashlight.

Lock

  1. With the light switched on, rotate the mode selector ring to “” to lock the currently selected output. Pressing or tapping the tactical tail switch cannot change the output or turn off the light.
  2. With the light switched off, rotate the mode selector ring to “” to lock the tactical tail switch. Pressing or tapping the tactical tail switch cannot turn on the light.

Unlock:

Rotate the mode selector ring from “” to any designated mode to unlock the flashlight. After unlocking the flashlight, the tactical tail switch functions properly.

Q: Why does the PD45R ACE downshift to a lower mode after being used for a while and the higher mode cannot be selected?

A: There are two reasons:

1. Intelligent Overheat Protection

The flashlight will accumulate a lot of heat when used at high output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature.

2. Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until the lowest output is reached.

Q: Why does the PD45R ACE happen to flicker?

A: The reasons that may cause the light to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate:

1. Poor battery level.

Solution: Recharge or replace the battery.

2. The contact or contact point of the battery or light is dirty.

Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Q: What kind of battery can be used in PD45R ACE?

A: The PD45R ACE flashlight package comes with a Fenix ARB-L21-6000 battery. It is recommended to use a Fenix ARB-L21 series battery. Other Li-ion batteries are not recommended, as an unmatched battery may cause the flashlight to fail to work normally.

Q: What are the optional accessories for PD45R ACE?

A: The PD45R ACE flashlight package comes with a lanyard and a holster. Other compatible accessories include:

  • AER-04 Remote pressure switch
  • AER-05 Remote pressure switch
  • ALG-00 Flashlight ring
  • ALG-18 Flashlight ring
  • ALG-15 Rail mount
  • ALG-16 M-LOK quick-release rail mount, etc.

Q: How to operate the SET mode of PD45R ACE?

A: The SET mode features 6 different output settings, which can be selected based on various application scenarios and users’ usage habits. The operations are as follows:

  1. Enter the SET mode

→Turn the mode selector ring to “SET.”

→number of flashlight blink(s)=current option number=available output amount

(e.g., flashlight blinks once = current option is Option 1 = 1 output available, and so forth for other options)

2. Define your target option

→Fully press the tactical tail switch.

→number of your press(es) = target option number = available output amount

(e.g., Want Option 6/6 available outputs? Fully press 6 times.)

→The flashlight blinks to confirm your selection.

(e.g., flashlight blinks 6 times = Option 6 has been selected = 6 available outputs)

3. Save and use

→Rotate back to the General mode to activate.

(The light automatically memorizes the selected option)

Battery Specifications

  • Fenix ARB-L21 Series (21700, 3.6V): Recommended
  • Rechargeable Battery, Li-ion (21700, 3.6V): Caution
  • Battery without protection circuit, Li-ion (21700, 3.6V): Banned

Warning: do not use batteries that are banned in this user manual, and do not use batteries that lack any protection circuit. 21700 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care. Using low-quality batteries or mishandling batteries (such as short-circuiting or overheating) could lead to combustion and jeopardize the safety of users and property. Using quality batteries with circuit protection will reduce the potential for combustion or explosion.

Battery Replacement: unscrew the light body and insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the light body back on.

Charging

  • Loosen the light neck to reveal the USB Type-C charging port and battery level indicator, and connect the USB Type-C socket of the charging cable to the light.
  • The indicator will display red while charging, and will turn green when fully charged.
  • After charging is complete, be sure to tighten the light neck to maintain its dustproof and waterproof functionality for normal use.

Note: the normal charging time of the included Fenix ARB-L21-6000 battery is about 3 hours from depleted to fully charged with an 18W or above charging adapter. Recharge a stored light every four months to maintain optimum performance of the battery. The light cannot be operated while charging.

Battery Level Indication

Each time the light is turned on, the indicator will show the current battery level and stay illuminated for 3 seconds.

  • Green light on: saturated, 100% - 85%.
  • Green light flashes: sufficient, 85% - 50%.
  • Red light on: poor, 50% - 25%.
  • Red light flashes: critical, 25% - 1%.

Note: this feature only works with a Fenix ARB-L21 Series 21700 rechargeable battery.

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The light will accumulate a lot of heat when used at Turbo output or Ultrahigh output for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 60°C/140°F or above, it will automatically step down a certain amount of lumens to reduce the temperature until Med output is reached. When the temperature drops below 60°C/140°F, the light will gradually recall the preset output level.

Low-Voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below 3.0V, the light is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Eco output is reached. When this happens in Eco output, the battery level indicator blinks red to remind you to recharge or replace the battery. To ensure normal use, the light will not turn off automatically and will work until the battery level runs out or the battery protection plate is triggered to stop discharging.

Note: this feature only works with a Fenix ARB-L21 Series 21700 rechargeable battery.

Best purchase

"I have been using Fenix lights for over ten years and am very satisfied with the ones I’ve purchased—I’ve bought several different models over the years—but this particular model is very convenient for mounting on a hard hat, which is how I use it daily at work. Thanks, Fenix."

Unbelievably Bright!

"3,200 lumens is insanely bright! Works great!"

John C. (5/5)

Hidden usb port is genius.

"Awesome flashlight as all Fenix lights are. I have several PD36R flashlights and rubber cover over usb charging port always fails. This flashlight has a hidden usb port which solves the problem. I highly recommend getting this light."

Peter T. (5/5)

Beware of PD45R Battery

"Bought this flashlight and extra 6000 capacity batteries and thought I was going to have commonality to other flashlights with 21700 batteries. Not successful. The battery is physically larger with the same 21700 marking. So I guess the battery is now better noted as a 21700-6000. I hope Fenix clarifies the size difference this in the descriptions and lack of compatibility with a 21700-5000."

Bradley V. (5/5)

Yacht lights

"Great lights very bright great for boats"

Thaddeus G. (5/5)

It’s ok

"I don’t like that the battery it takes is the only one that works correctly in it. . I have a bunch of the same 21700 batteries but with lower 5000mah. So now if I want to be able to switch out I have to get the 6000mah. Also don’t like the tail cap. It’s not an audible click."

John T. (3/5)

PD45 R ACE

"I am very pleased with the lumens and build quality. I wear it daily for work."

Brandon W. (5/5)

"Love the light, super bright, easy-to-use. It will easily replace any other light you have. It feels good in the hand and will conquer any night activities from camping, fishing, hiking, and even great for law enforcement. All in all, I would highly recommend this light for anyone"
