Operating Instructions
On: with the lamp turned off, press and hold the main switch for 0.5 seconds to turn on the lamp, or double click the main switch to turn on the lamp and enter the red light.
Off: with the lamp turned on, press and hold the main switch for 0.5 seconds to turn off the lamp.
Mode Switching: with the lamp turned on, single click the mode switch to cycle through Spotlight → Floodlight → Red light.
Output Selection — Spotlight mode: single click the main switch to cycle through Low → Med → High → Turbo.
Output Selection — Floodlight mode: single click the main switch to cycle through Low → Med → High.
Output Selection — Red light mode: single click the main switch to cycle through Low → Med → High → Flash.
Intelligent Memory Circuit: the headlamp automatically memorizes the previously used output level and mode excluding Red light. When turned on again, the previously used output level and mode will be recalled. When turned on in Spotlight mode, the headlamp will activate in High output if it was previously switched off in Turbo mode.
Lock / Unlock
Lock: with the lamp turned off, press and hold the main switch for 3 seconds, the lamp will blink 4 times in the Low output of Floodlight mode to indicate locked status.
Unlock: with the lamp locked, press and hold the main switch for 3 seconds, the lamp will be activated with 4 white blinks and activated in the Low output of Floodlight mode to indicate the lamp is unlocked. In locked status, any operation other than unlocking will activate 4 blinks in the Low output of Floodlight mode to indicate locked status. Reinserting the battery will unlock the headlamp.
Intelligent Brightness Downshift Function
On/Off: with the lamp turned off, press and hold the mode switch for 6 seconds, and the headlamp will blink twice in the Low output of Floodlight mode, indicating that this function is enabled. Repeat to disable (the headlamp will blink 8 times). This function is enabled as a factory default.
Intelligent downshift: in Spotlight mode, when the lamp head is close to an illuminated object (about 2.36"/60mm), the headlamp automatically and gradually downshifts to Low output. When the lamp head is away from the illuminated object for more than 0.8 seconds, the headlamp automatically recalls the previously used brightness level.
Battery Specifications
- Fenix ARB-L18-3400 (18650, 3.6V): Recommended
- Non-rechargeable Battery, Li-ion (CR123A, 3.0V): Usable**
- Other Battery, Li-ion (16340, 3.6V): Usable**
Notes: do not use batteries without any protection board; do not mix batteries of different types. 18650 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care. Using low-quality batteries (such as short-circuiting or overheating) could lead to combustion and jeopardize the safety of users and property; adverse effects are not covered by any Fenix warranty or liability. **For optimal performance, it is recommended to use the included battery. When using CR123A or 16340 batteries, do not charge them to ensure safety. With these batteries, the headlamp will operate with fewer brightness levels and shorter runtime.
Battery Replacement
Unscrew the battery cover and insert the battery in accordance with the polarity marks, then screw the battery cover back on.
Charging
- Open the anti-dust cap and plug the USB Type-C end of the charging cable into the charging port of the headlamp.
- The indicator will display red while charging and will turn green when fully charged.
- Once charging is completed, be sure to unplug the charging cable and close the anti-dust cap to prevent the ingress of dust and debris.
- The normal charging time of the included battery is approximately 2.5 hours from depleted to fully charged with a 5V/2.6A charging adapter.
- When using CR123A or 16340 batteries, it is strictly prohibited to mix batteries of different models, ages, capacities, or charge states. Furthermore, it is strictly prohibited to charge these batteries.
- Recharge a stored headlamp every four months to maintain the optimum performance of the battery.
Battery Level Indication
With the lamp turned off, single click the main switch to check the current battery level. Single click once again and the battery level indicator will go out, or without any operation the battery level indicator will last for 3 seconds. Each time the lamp is turned on, the battery level indicator will also indicate the current battery level and will last for 3 seconds.
- Green light on: 100% - 85%
- Green light flashes: 85% - 50%
- Red light on: 50% - 20%
- Red light flashes: 20% - 1% (please charge the headlamp promptly)
This only works with a Fenix ARB-L18 Series rechargeable battery.
Intelligent Overheat Protection
The headlamp will accumulate a lot of heat when used at high output levels for extended periods. When the headlamp reaches a temperature of 55°C/131°F or above, it will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 55°C/131°F, the headlamp will gradually recall the preset output level.
Low-Voltage Warning
When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the headlamp is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until the lowest output is reached. When this happens in the lowest output, the battery level indicator blinks red to remind users to recharge or replace the battery in a timely manner. This only works with a Fenix ARB-L18 Series battery.
Headband Assembly
The headband is factory assembled and ready to use right out of the package. Adjust the headband by sliding the buckle to the required length.
Usage and Maintenance
- Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the headlamp and will void the warranty.
- Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
- If the lamp will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the headlamp could be damaged by electrolyte leakage.
- Turn off and lock the headlamp or remove the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
- Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the O-ring with an approved spare.
- Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp's performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently, or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons: A. Poor battery level. Solution: recharge or replace the battery. B. The contact or contact point of the battery or headlamp is dirty. Solution: clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol. If the above methods don't work, please contact the distributor.
